Is there really a big difference between gym and home workouts? Apart from the fact that you pay for the gym and you don’t get several big workout machines at home… Well, some people who can actually afford it, do have workout machines at home. Anyways, my point is that, you don’t really need a gym membership in order to start your fitness journey and get fit.
I remember when I stopped leaving on campus, I wanted to get a gym membership at Anytime Fitness. However, it was way too expensive, especially for an unemployed, “living on her own” college student. I still wanted to do it because everyone else was doing it! Ugh poor me at the time! Now, I know that you DO NOT have to do what everyone else is doing. Therefore, I went to Walmart, I purchased a pair of 10 lbs dumbbells; I went on amazon and got a jump rope, some resistance bands along with a few other equipment. It was the best decision that I’ve made! I’ve been doing home workouts for over 2 years now and I love every single minutes of them.
There are also a lot of places where you can workout for free besides your bedroom. High school’s track field and public parks are a couple of them. Thankfully, I live walking distance to a high school and a public park . I love working out at the park, especially during spring season when the trees are blooming. It’s so magical and wonderful! There are a lot benches at the park that can be used for several different exercises. If you are lucky enough to have a track field close to you, go there and use it. There are some great bleacher workout on YouTube; you can also jog and walk a couple miles on the track which is awesome! Definitely take great advantage of those public places in your area!
I’ve heard stories about people not wanting to workout just because they don’t have a gym membership. Trust me babe, you really don’t need that gym membership in order to get fit. Going to the gym sure has its benefits, however, if you can’t afford it or just don’t want to pay a lot, just workout at home! Personally, I love working out at home, not only because I can wear anything and be in the comfort of my home, also because I do have more fun at home. You can also take classes at the gym while not paying for a whole membership which is pretty good. For instance, I took a couple spinning classes at LA fitness with my friends, however, I’m not a member and I do my main workouts at home.
In conclusion, just do whatever is best for you! You really do not need a gym membership to get fit. You just need to be disciplined and maybe a couple dumbbells, a jump rope and some resistance bands!
