Getting Through Quarantine!

Today I am sharing with you the things that I’ve been doing to help me get through quarantine! Hope this post can be very helpful to you while getting through this time! This post is going to be a long one but TOTALLY worth it! Therefore, grab some tea, coffee, ice cream or wine and keep reading!

Pray and Practice Gratitude

We all need prayers during these difficult times, so setting some time apart to just pray and worship will help you get through quarantine. Praying always give me a sense of hope, it strengthens my faith and help focus on all that I have to be grateful for. In the morning or at night, write down 3 to 5 things that you are grateful for. Be grateful that you are healthy and alive.

Affirmation

Affirmation is so simple, yet so rewarding. I love starting my days with positive affirmations. For example: Today is an amazing day, I am happy and healthy, I’m grateful for the sun and the birds chirping outside my window. Starting your day with a positive affirmation set the mood for the rest of your day; which will help you stay in a positive mindset despite what’s going on.

Create a Schedule

You might think why would I create a schedule when I’m going to be home all day. However, organizing your week/day and having a time window for your priorities will keep you disciplined and get things done. Choose the time of the day that works best for you and try your best to stick to it. Remember that it’s okay if you don’t stick to it and do anything on your To-Do list

Rest

I can’t say this enough, rest, rest, rest. I know a lot of people have been saying to use this time to work hard on your goals or to learn a new hobby. However, if you don’t rest, you won’t be able to do any of the above. It is so important to rest

Stay Active

Staying active for me is a must; It’s a part of who I am. Staying active is such a great stress reliever for me. I ALWAYS feel better mentally, emotionally and physically after my workouts. You don’t need to be fancy, you can do anything from a quick walk outside or a Hiit workout. I’ve been using the Nike training app for my workouts and I’m in love. Also, their premium membership is currently free to help us stay inside during this pandemic.

SLEEEP

I’ve been sleeping in! A lot! At first, I felt bad about it because before quarantine, I would wake up at 6:00 AM-7:00 AM the latest, however, now I find myself waking up at 9:00 AM- 10:00 AM. It is definitely OK to sleep in if you want to. You don’t really have anywhere to go anyways, unless you’re an essential worker. Therefore sleep to help you get through quarantine.

Read/Listen to a book

I’ve been using my audible account more now which is perfect! I just finished Girl, stop apologizing by Rachel Hollis and I loved it! Rachel is an amazing author, therefore, you should check her out if you haven’t yet. I started “The 7 habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen R. Covey and it seems good so far!

Listen to a Podcast

Podcast are such a great and educational way to get through quarantine. I love listening to podcasts. My favorite podcast to listen to is Elevation by pastor Steven Furtick.

Call/Text a Friend

Not going to lie, I’m VERY bad at staying in touch with people! Therefore, during this time I’ve been texting and calling some families and friends every now and then. It helps pass the hours and staying connected with loved ones which is nice.

Try Something New

You guys, I’ve been painting! I’m not even close to being a good painter, however, it is such a relaxing and calming activity! My brother loves to paint, therefore, we always have extra canvases and paint in the house which is perfect. If you want to try painting, the dollar tree have a lot of painting equipment like canvas, paint brushes and acrylic paint.

Have a mini concert/dance party

I can’t even tell you how many concerts I’ve had in my house since all of this started! One day, I spent over 4 hours singing to High School Musical, Hannah Montana, Camp Rocks and the Disney Princesses! Yes guys! You read that right and I’m not one bit ashamed! It was so fun and I forgot about the rest of the world for just a few hours! I highly recommend that.

Movie Marathon Day!

Last Friday, I woke up not feeling too well. It was raining heavily outside… It was one of those days where you just want to stay in bed. Therefore, I grabbed my computer, a bag of my favorite Hershey’s chocolate, a couple water bottles, put my robe on, slipped under my warm fuzzy blanket and watched THE ENTIRE Twilight saga for the day! It made everything better!

Do what makes YOU happy

Lastly, do whatever makes YOU feel good and happy! Don’t be pressured by how others are living and think that you should be doing exactly what they’re doing too. We all are processing this situation differently. Therefore, what works for me might not work for you! And what works for you might not work for me! The important thing to remember is that making yourself happy is a priority! Therefore, DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY!

I hope that this post wast helpful in getting you through auarantine! Remember that this too shall pass guys! We’re all in this together! Stay hopeful! Stay faithful because God is in control! Sending you lots of virtual warm hugs and love!

Stay safe,
