My Love For Matcha Latte

If we are friends or if you follow me on any of my social medias, you already know that I am obsessed with matcha! I’ve fell in love with matcha about a year ago and since then, I’ve been drinking it at least 2-3 times a week! I won’t lie, the first time I tried it, I hated it because I did not make it right, no honey, no milk. However, I’ve learned how to make it right and now, every sip takes me on some magical planet… Haha!  From the title of this post, you can tell that today’s post is going to be about matcha! So let’s just dive into it!

What is Matcha?

Matcha is simply one of the most amazing thing to have ever found its way on earth! Like really! Matcha is a type of green tea that is stronger than the regular green tea. It is made from ground camellia sinensis’ leaves which are grown and harvested differently than regular green tea [3]. It has been proven that matcha can help fight cancer which to me is simply amazing!

The Benefits of Matcha.

1. Matcha is a great source of antioxidants. Antioxidants are substances that help your body prevent cells damages and help lower the risk for some chronic disease such as cancer and hypertension  [1]. Isn’t that cool?!!!

2.  Helps protect the liver– When I first read this, I was like “Um, interesting but how would matcha be able to do that?” Well, a couple studies have proven that matcha actually reduces the risk for liver disease. “One study gave diabetic rats matcha for 16 weeks and found that it helped prevent damage to both the kidneys and liver.” [2] This is actually good because some organs become damaged once a person become diabetic, so maybe they can use matcha to make some medicine, who knows!

3.  Energy! I do not need any study for this one because I’ve experienced it! I’ve actually started to swap my caramel macchiato for matcha latte! It always give me that boost of energy I need in the morning to survive my 7 hours lab. I will be more energetic throughout the day and I’ll get stuff done in a minute! It contains a greater amount of concentrated caffeine than regular green tea

4. Mood Booster! Matcha can literally boost your mood from 0 to 100 in a split of second! Again, I’ve experienced this myself! I’m not sure what it is about it exactly but I always get into this bubble of happiness immediately after my first sip! There’s something about this tea man, I’m telling you!

5. Linked to weight loss! Yes , you read that right! You’ve probably heard that green tea helps with weight loss and all, right?! So let me put it like this… Matcha is a form of green tea that is stronger and concentrated than regular green tea which means that it will enhance weight loss more than green tea [2]… I hope I did not loose you haha! A couple studies show how matcha help reduce and maintain weight more compared to weight loss supplements[2]. In those studies, there were at least a dozen subjects. Therefore, I believe that more studies should be conducted so we are able to know the exact compound of matcha that enhances weight loss [2]. And remember, that doesn’t mean that you can eat all you want, not exercise, drink matcha and expect to loose weight! No babe, it doesn’t work like that! You actually have to put in the work!

Matcha has a lot more benefits, but for the sake of the length of this post, I just talked about a couple ones that I’ve personally benefited from or are very popular.

How I Prepare Matcha Latte

There are several way to make matcha but my all-time favorite is matcha latte! I usually buy the matcha from Trader Joe’s, but I think that it’s available at other grocery stores like Whole Foods and Stop and shop! You can also find it at coffee shops like Starbucks!

To make my matcha latte,  I start off by adding 2-3 tbs of the matcha powder in a mug/cup. Then I add hot boiling water along with some honey to the cup. I stir it quickly so everything can be well mixed. Next, I add milk into a cup and use a milk frother to create that perfect foam top . Then, I carefully add the milk to my matcha cup and I enjoy my latte!

You should definitely try matcha and include  it into your diet if you have not already! You’ll see changes in your skin, mood, weight, and energy level. Let me know how you like it if you try matcha!

Like always, do not hesitate to give me your feedback and comment! Have a great week babes!!!

Xoxo!
